Milk Feeding Program Launching at DPMES

Last September 24, the Rotary Club of Broadway, QC launched the 2009-2010 Milk Feeding Program. Recipients are the Grade-1 pupils of Diosdado P. Macapagal Elementary School located at Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City. The 50 pupils were selected among the 950 Grade school pupils of the institution. They were determined to be the most malnourished in their grade level. This project is part of the Rotary Club of New Manila East Milk Feeding Program through the Rotary International Matching Grant.Pres. Ver delivered the welcome remarks and PE Rose discussed to the parents and pupils the importance of milk to the children. There was ceremonial milk drinking participated by the parents, teachers and us. CP Allan and IPP Ric were there to lend support to the said project. The fifty recipients were there to drink and have their first taste of fresh carabao milk from Nueva Ecija. A light snack consisting of juice and sandwiches were served after the program.

Gift Giving-NCH

Last Aug 29, RC Broadway QC went to the National Children's Hospital at E Rodriguez for our Gift Giving. All rotarian members and officers gathered at the 3f lobby as we waited for the signal that we could start already.

PP Boots was really kind to support this project as she was the one who have brought all the toys from the US. We are also happy to have met and experienced this project with her husband, who by the way is a warm person like PP Boots.

It was a hard deal seeing those children suffer at a young age due to illness but it made us appreciate life more. knowing that just a simple good health should be enough to be thankful to the Lord.

Saddened we may seem, we left the hospital with a grateful heart that we have helped them in our small way. made them smile and feel loved.

We promised to be back soon..

RC Broadway Celebs notches 1st win…
- Members of RC Broadway notched their first win at the on-going Gov. Dulce dB. Coyukiat Basketball Tournament. Last year’s basketball tournament RC Broadway did not field in a team but instead basketball players of the club opted to play for different ball clubs back then.

This year with the leadership of club president Ver, RC Broadway formed their own team and was able to win their first win last Saturday winning over last year’s final four contender RCUD. Now, Broadway celebrities united in one team proved to be a better team with Rtn. Doddee Hermogeno and Rtn James Ongpin leading the way at the start of the game, broadway celebs took the lead early. With the help coming from teammates from other clubs like sweet shooting Rtn James Ho (RC Commonwealth) which provided outside sniping for Broadway it made it more difficult for their opponents to catch up. It was a balanced inside-outside offense that was clicking on all cylinders which made the lead of RC Broadway balloon to as much as 22 points at the half with key contributions coming from Rtn. Gerald Ledesma, Rtn. Boy Reyes, Pres. Ver Sison.

RCUD surged with a run in the second half of the game trimming the lead to within 10. But the defensive duo of Rtn. Bobby Santillian and Rtn. Romy Domingo of Cubao Central contained the run of RCUD while Doddee, James and James Ho continued their great scoring game to maintain the lead and seal the victory for RC Broadway’s 1st win. Rtn Doddee finished as top scorer for the club, which featured 4 three pointers.

The game was well attended and supported by RC Broadway Members and guests namely: PE Rose, Rtn. Karen, Rommel Hermogeno, Rtn. Monina and husband Alex. Also present to witness the game is the family of RC Broadway’s all-around player James Ongpin led by his wife Sab with their kids Justine and Juan.

To celebrate after the game the team went to Goto Pares to enjoy and have fellowship where the family of the game’s scoring machine Doddee joined us, wife Joan and baby John.

Congratulations!!! May you guys play even better on your next game. And we hope to see more supporters and friends to enjoy the game with us. See you all on the next game!!!!
